About the role
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring that financial records are accurate, compliant with regulations, and aligned with company goals. The role involves managing the accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The Financial Controller works closely with senior management to support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and insights.
Key responsibilities
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement) in compliance with accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, or local standards)
Perform detailed analysis of financial results, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
Monitor performance against budget and forecasts, providing variance analysis and corrective actions when necessary
Prepare financial forecasts and projections to guide business strategy
Oversee cash flow management to ensure liquidity and operational efficiency
Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable to optimize working capital
Develop and maintain a robust internal control framework to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data
Monitor compliance with company financial policies and procedures
Review and assess financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
Monitor the day-to-day accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end close
About you
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
Familiarity with Odoo is a plus
In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS), tax regulations, and accounting practices
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Must-Haves:Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
5–7 years of progressive finance/accounting experience
Strong proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills
Solid knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, tax regulations, and compliance standards
Proven ability in financial reporting, variance analysis, and forecasting
Strong communication skills to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders
Experience managing accounting operations and teams
Ability to work effectively in a remote setup with international stakeholders
Good-to-Haves:
Experience with Odoo or similar ERP systems
Strategic input into pricing, contracts, or business initiatives
Familiarity with both Philippine and Australian regulatory environments a plus
Professional certifications (CPA, CMA, or equivalent)
