Janitor

A janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in various types of facilities, such as offices, schools, hospitals, and other commercial or residential buildings. Their tasks typically include cleaning floors, restrooms, windows, and performing routine maintenance to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Clean and sanitize floors, restrooms, windows, and common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins, ensuring proper disposal.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms and kitchen areas.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, ensuring they are free of debris.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch areas such as doorknobs, light switches, and handrails.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs or minor repairs.
- Respond to cleaning emergencies, such as spills or accidents.
Experience: Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work may be preferred but not always required.
Skills:
Knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment, and safe handling procedures.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Time management skills to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and within deadlines.
Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, bend, lift, and move heavy items.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy cleaning equipment and supplies.
Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Other Requirements:
Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning.
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, as needed.
Ability to communicate effectively and report any issues or damages to supervisors.
Background checks may be required, especially in schools or healthcare settings.
