- A cashier is responsible for handling transactions at a retail store, restaurant, or other business.
- Processing Transactions: Scan items, calculate totals, and handle cash, credit, or digital payments.
- Customer Service: Greet customers, answer questions, and assist with any concerns.
- Operating Register: Manage the cash register, including opening and closing procedures, and ensuring sufficient change is available.
- Handling Returns and Exchanges: Process returns and exchanges according to company policy.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or a retail environment is preferred but not always necessary.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to quickly and accurately calculate prices, change, and totals.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication to interact with customers and coworkers effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring the accuracy of transactions and proper handling of money.
