BIM Engineer

Context

The BIM Engineer develops and maintains federated 3D models, performs clash detection and coordination, and produces BIM deliverables in compliance with ISO 19650 and project-specific BIM Execution Plans.

Missions/Main Duties

COMMUNICATION

• Adapts style and method of communication to changing circumstances and needs.
• High attention to detail with the ability to tailor written and verbal communication to targeted audiences requirements.

DOCUMENT WRITING

• Draft simple documents in a clear and effective manner

ESTIMATING

• Produce 3D models in Revit and Civil 3D across civil, structural, MEP and tunnel disciplines.
• Assemble and manage federated models in Navisworks or equivalent platforms.
• Perform clash detection, coordinate clash resolution, and report findings to the discipline lead.
• Extract quantity take-offs and bills of quantities directly from models.
• Maintain the Common Data Environment (CDE) in line with ISO 19650 protocols.
• Conduct model audits, parameter checks and quality assurance on embedded data.
• Contribute to digital engineering and automation initiatives where capability allows.
• Uphold ANZ quality assurance practices, including ISO 9001 conformance.

• Uses project management methodologies to improve delivery and increase profit margin.

PROJECT CONTROLS

• Develop and update Primavera P6 or MS Project schedules under ANZ direction.
• Track progress against baseline; produce earned value reports.
• Support cost forecasting, cash flow modelling and variance analysis.
• Maintain risk and contingency registers.

INNOVATION

• Show interest for new ideas. Search information and propose improvements to carry out their work
• Makes efforts to optimise workflows efficiently using technology to innovate.

COMMERCIAL & BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

• General commercial awareness (i.e. able to interpret contract terms and the importance of maintaining margin and profitability).
• Uses the internal project management system as a business tool, understands contractual obligations and actively manages risks.
• Contribute to tenders and bids.

REPORTING

• Prepare monthly project performance reports and dashboards.
• Compile bid documentation, schedules and cost narratives.
• Support document control and project assurance activities.

WORK, HEALTH & SAFETY

• Adhere to the Company WHS Policy (and Client WHS Requirements where appropriate and required).
• Wear PPE where required.
• Report health and safety incidents in line with Company Policy.

QUALITY

• Adhere to the company's quality policies.
• Fulfil the quality annual goals and objectives.
• Fulfil the annual individual Quality goals and objectives.
• Contribute with management to achieve the implementation quality activities like; customer satisfaction, quality reporting, quality audit, resolve quality corrective actions, quality trainings, quality initiatives etc.

Profile/Skills

Education:

Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent higher education. Your degree should be relevant to the field of consulting in projects you are currently working on.

Skills:

Essential

• Three or more years of BIM modelling experience on infrastructure or building projects.
• Working competence in ISO 19650 information management principles.
• Demonstrated experience with federated models and clash detection workflows.
• Tertiary qualification in engineering, architecture or digital engineering.
• Strong written and spoken English; capacity to operate within ANZ business hours overlap.

Desirable

• Experience on rail, tunnels, water or energy infrastructure.
• Exposure to Dynamo, Solibri, BIM360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, or Bentley OpenRoads.
• Experience with computational design or parametric modelling.
