A picker/ packer is responsible for selecting and packing products for shipment in warehouses or distribution centers. This role is essential for ensuring that orders are fulfilled accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Order Picking: Locate and retrieve items from shelves based on order specifications.
- Packing: Prepare items for shipment by packing them securely in boxes or containers.
- Quality Control: Inspect products for damage or defects before packing.
- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and report discrepancies.
- Equipment Operation: Use tools such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, or forklifts to move products as needed.
Skills Required:
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in order fulfillment.
- Physical stamina for lifting and moving heavy items.
- Basic math skills for counting and measuring products.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Work Environment:
- Typically works in warehouses or distribution centers.
- May require standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks.
