A Category/Merchandising Analyst is crucial in optimizing product assortments, pricing strategies, and overall category performance. Their primary responsibility is to analyze data and market trends to inform decisions that drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction within a specific product category.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze sales data, inventory levels, and historical performance of products within the assigned category.
- Analyze sales data, inventory, and historical performance to understand trends and customer preferences.
- Work with merchandising and buying teams to refine the product assortment, ensuring the right mix of products, sizes, and brands.
- Monitor inventory levels to maintain balance between supply and demand and recommend reorders or SKU discontinuations.
- Assess competitor pricing and promotions and implement strategies to optimize revenue and margins.
- Stay informed on industry trends and market dynamics to identify opportunities and threats.
- Collaborate with suppliers on pricing, terms, and delivery schedules, and evaluate supplier performance.
- Develop accurate sales forecasts and adjust based on market trends.
- Create and share reports and insights with stakeholders on category performance.
- Partner with marketing to plan and assess promotional campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Gather and use customer feedback to enhance product offerings and the overall shopping experience.
- Manage the category’s budget, covering promotions, marketing, and inventory expenses.
