The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced IT Area Lead to lead our Global Financial Crime & Fraud Prevention (GFC&FP) technology capability. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for someone who combines strong engineering expertise with exceptional people leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Your Impact

As IT Area Lead, you will oversee the delivery, reliability, and continuous improvement of technology services supporting ING's Financial Crime and Fraud Prevention capabilities. You'll lead globally distributed engineering teams, shape technology strategy, and help ensure ING remains secure, compliant, and future-ready.

What You'll Do

Lead High-Performing Teams

• Build, coach, and develop engineering talent across global locations.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Champion ING's values and create an engaged, healthy team environment.

Drive Technology Delivery

• Set direction and standards aligned with ING's global technology strategy.
• Ensure successful delivery, scalability, and reliability of technology services.
• Partner with Product and Architecture teams to align priorities and roadmaps.
• Drive engineering excellence and delivery predictability.

Protect the Bank

• Own technology risk, security, compliance, and control effectiveness.
• Lead risk remediation efforts and support audit and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Risk, Security, and Compliance stakeholders.

Influence Across the Organization

• Engage with senior leaders and key stakeholders globally.
• Drive workforce planning, budgeting, vendor management, and strategic initiatives.
• Lead digital transformation and continuous improvement efforts.

What You'll Bring

• 10+ years of IT experience with a strong engineering background.
• Proven experience leading cross-functional and globally distributed teams.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including interaction with senior leaders.
• Experience with modern architectures, technology delivery, security governance, and risk management.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and navigate ambiguity with confidence.
• Experience in financial services, fraud prevention, AML, or KYC is an advantage.
