Linux Administrator

We are seeking a Linux Administrator responsible for the installation, configuration, patching, and ongoing maintenance of Linux systems within the organization's IT infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, security, and optimal performance of Linux servers supporting critical applications and services. The administrator will work with Oracle Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Ubuntu environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux OS on bare‑metal and virtualized servers
- Patch Linux systems using standard patch management workflows: plan, test, and apply security updates and system upgrades
- Perform user lifecycle, disk/volume, and package management for day‑to‑day operations
- Monitor performance, availability, and capacity; tune for high availability and reliability
- Configure and maintain permissions, access controls, and firewall rules to enforce system security
- Troubleshoot OS, hardware, software, network, and system‑level incidents to root cause and resolution
- Support Linux‑based application deployments and configurations, validating compatibility and stability
- Administer Linux printing services, including queue management and configuration fixes
- Automate repetitive tasks with Bash or Python to reduce toil and error
- Integrate Linux hosts with security monitoring and log management platforms for proactive detection and compliance reporting
- Create and maintain system configuration and SOP/operational documentation
- Enforce security standards and company policies across Linux infrastructure
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support mission‑critical applications and services
Technical Expertise & Professional Capability
- Experience in enterprise Linux administration, including installation, configuration, patching, monitoring, automation, and configuration management
- Hands‑on use of Red Hat Satellite/Katello, Zabbix, and Bash/Python for patching, monitoring, and operational automation
- Working knowledge of Ansible for standardized configurations and drift control
- Familiarity with Oracle Exadata and high‑performance systems is an advantage
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) with awareness of RoCE and InfiniBand (IB)
- Practical experience with identity and security integration in hybrid environments, including Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, Group Policy, NTFS permissions, and Linux authentication via Quest Unix Bridge, Kerberos, and LDAP
- Application of Linux hardening practices aligned with Windows security standards
- Experience supporting backup and disaster recovery for Linux using NetBackup and Cohesity, including tape‑ and disk‑based strategies
- Exposure to virtualized and cloud environments, including VMware ESXi and OCI or hybrid cloud platforms
- Strong operational focus on system performance tuning, cross‑platform troubleshooting, collaboration with Windows teams, and maintaining documentation and SOPs
