Project Manager (Client-Facing - Software Delivery)

Mayan Solutions, Inc. is seeking a sharp, proactive, and detail-obsessed Project Manager to lead cross-functional software delivery teams and serve as a key liaison between our consulting firm and client organizations. You will act as the central hub of project information, ensuring that the right details reach the right stakeholders at the right time. This role is ideal for someone who not only excels in running Scrum ceremonies but can forecast delays, flag risks, and manage scope creep with confidence and diplomacy.

You will work closely with a Business Analyst and Product Manager to support project planning, drive delivery cadence, monitor execution, and handle change management. We’re looking for someone who can lead with clarity, influence stakeholders, and champion delivery excellence on both the tech and business fronts.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with the Product Manager and Business Analyst to translate goals into structured project plans and delivery milestones.
• Act as the central communication hub for the project, proactively routing information to internal and client stakeholders.
• Track and manage the team’s progress using Jira boards and Scrum metrics (velocity, burndown, cycle time).
• Forecast project delays and blockers, whether from the scrum team (development) or stakeholder team (requirements and approvals).
• Identify, document, and escalate risks, dependencies, and blockers, ensuring timely mitigation.
• Protect the product backlog by assessing proposed scope changes and consulting the Product Manager and Business Analyst on prioritization and business impact.
• Facilitate the change request process, including documenting scope impacts, aligning stakeholders, and updating timelines and budgets as needed.
• Prepare and deliver regular status reports, risk assessments, and delivery forecasts to stakeholders and clients.
• Ensure project delivery aligns with business goals, user needs, and contractual obligations.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, and alignment on sprint goals.
• Host efficient check-ins, surface blockers, and help the team maintain velocity.
• Route updates, questions, and blockers to and from clients and internal teams.
• Track dependencies, note potential delays, and escalate when needed.
• Flag scope creep, confirm with BA/PM if new items are to be prioritized, and initiate the change control process if necessary.
• Generate sprint metrics and delivery reports; forecast slippage and maintain delivery transparency.
• Liaise with client-side decision-makers to align on goals, priorities, and timelines.
• Gather insights during retrospectives and implement process improvements with the team.

Requirements and Skills

• 3–5 years of experience in Scrum project management, ideally in client-facing or consulting environments.
• Deep knowledge of Scrum and/or Kanban, Scrum ceremonies, team roles, and artifacts.
• Proficient in Jira, Confluence, and project reporting dashboards (e.g., Gantt charts, burndown charts, cumulative flow diagrams).
• Skilled in identifying delays, risks, and bottlenecks across both technical and stakeholder teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to simplify complexity and relay critical updates quickly and accurately.
• Experience managing scope creep and leading formal change request processes.
• Strong team facilitator who works well with Developers, Product Managers, Designers, and client stakeholders.
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent is a plus.
• Experience working in or with a tech consulting firm is highly preferred.
