The Video Editor is responsible for transforming raw video footage and creative concepts into engaging, high-quality video content for social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. The role combines strong video editing skills with knowledge of AI tools, visual effects, trends and viral content formats to create videos that capture attention, encourage engagement and improve content performance also creative approaches, and proactively suggest ideas that can improve audience engagement and content performance.

The position exists to support the organization’s social media efforts by consistently producing fresh, creative and platform-appropriate video content that aligns with the brand while keeping up with the latest social media trends and editing techniques.

Responsibilities

1. Social Media Video Editing & Production

Edit about 10 raw footage per week into engaging, polished and platform-appropriate videos for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and other relevant social media channels, ensuring the final content is aligned with the intended message, audience and brand.

2. Trend & Content Format Exploration

Monitor current social media trends, viral video formats, editing styles, hooks, transitions, captions and visual techniques to identify opportunities that can be adapted to the organization’s content and audience.

3. Creative Content Development

Proactively contribute video concepts, editing ideas and creative approaches that can improve audience attention, engagement and content performance, rather than relying solely on provided concepts or instructions.

4. Creative Experimentation & Innovation

Test and explore new editing styles, effects, transitions, storytelling techniques, captioning formats, animations and other creative approaches to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of social media content.

5. AI & Emerging Technology Application

Explore and apply relevant AI tools and emerging technologies in video editing, content creation, visual enhancement, captioning and ideation to improve creative output, efficiency and production capabilities.

6. Platform-Specific Content Optimisation

Adapt video content, pacing, length, format, captions, visual elements and storytelling techniques according to the requirements and audience behaviour of different social media platforms to maximise content effectiveness.

7. Content Performance & Continuous Improvement

Review the performance and audience response of published videos and use relevant insights to identify what works, what can be improved and what new approaches should be tested in future content.

8. Content Quality & Brand Consistency

Ensure all edited videos meet the required standards for visual quality, accuracy, branding, messaging and presentation before publication, while maintaining a consistent brand identity across social media content.

Requirements

· Minimum 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in video editing, social media content creation, digital marketing or a similar role.

· Strong working knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve or equivalent tools.

· Good understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and other short-form video platforms.

· Knowledge of current social media trends, viral content formats, hooks, storytelling, pacing, transitions, effects and captioning styles.

· Basic to intermediate knowledge of AI-powered content creation and editing tools, with the ability and willingness to learn and experiment with new tools.

· Strong understanding of visual storytelling and the ability to turn raw footage into content that captures attention.

· Ability to independently research, generate and present creative ideas.

· Strong attention to detail, creativity and willingness to experiment with new editing techniques.
