An Algorithm Engineer for the USHER Earthquake and Structural Health Monitoring System will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing algorithms that process real-time vibration, acceleration, and structural response data from USHER sensors to detect earthquakes, assess building health, and generate timely alerts. The role involves applying signal processing, machine learning, and structural dynamics to derive actionable insights for infrastructure resilience, working closely with hardware, software, and data teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and intelligent system performance. Candidates must have a strong background in data analysis, programming (Python, MATLAB, or C++), and structural or earthquake engineering principles, with a passion for innovation and using technology to enhance public safety and disaster preparedness.
- Candidates must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Civil/Structural Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Data Science, with strong experience in algorithm development for signal processing, vibration analysis, or sensor-based systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C/C++ is required, along with a solid understanding of time-series analysis, digital filtering, and statistical or machine learning models.
- Familiarity with structural dynamics, earthquake engineering, or IoT systems is highly desirable.
- The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary R&D environment focused on innovation, data accuracy, and real-world application for earthquake resilience and structural safety.
