Remote Accountant

Zenith Outsourcing is hiring Remote Accountant with Experienced in New Zealand Financial Services Location: Remote (NZ Timezone / UTC+12 alignment required) Type: Full-time / Part-time He/ She must have a can-do attitude to be able to meet deadlines set by clients. Role Overview We are looking for a detailed, highly organized Remote Accountant / Bookkeeper to oversee our financial recording, payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, and compliance reporting. Working closely with company leadership and project managers, you will ensure our accounts remain balance-sheet clean, cash flow is accurately tracked, and financial operations run seamlessly in the background. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process supplier invoices, verify job purchase orders, issue client progress claims/invoices, and maintain proactive debtor management. Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multi-currency accounts using Xero. Payroll Management: Oversee weekly/fortnightly payroll processing, employee leave tracking, and wage reconciliations in compliance with New Zealand labor standards. Tax & Compliance: Assist with monthly GST (Goods and Services Tax) returns, PAYE filings, and year-end compliance reporting under New Zealand regulations. Financial Reporting & Cost Tracking: Prepare monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow forecasts, and job profitability reports to aid director-level decision-making. Audit & Subcontractor Verifications: Review subcontractor billing, tax declarations, and verify insurance coverages prior to payment processing. Requirements & Qualifications Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (experience with New Zealand and Australian tax frameworks, GST, and payroll is strongly preferred). Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., CPA, CA, or Certified Bookkeeper). Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Xero and job management/ERP software (e.g., Simpro, Fergus, or workflow tools); strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets. Industry Background: Prior experience working with trades, construction, electrical contractors, or project-based businesses is a significant advantage. Communication & Timezone: Excellent written/spoken English; available during standard New Zealand business hours (NZST/NZDT).
