Key Responsibilities - Food Preparation: Wash, chop, slice, and prepare ingredients (vegetables, meats, sauces, dressings, and garnishes) for daily service.
- Cooking & Assembly: Cook short-order and light-fare meals (e.g., eggs, bacon, burgers, and salads) accurately and efficiently.
- Food Safety & Hygiene: Adhere strictly to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards. Maintain clean prep surfaces, equipment, and storage areas.
- Inventory & Prep Management: Assist in monitoring food stock levels, rotating ingredients using FIFO (First In, First Out), and reporting shortage or spoilage to the manager.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Clean kitchen equipment (griddles, fryers, prep stations, panini presses) at the start and end of shifts; safely dispose of trash and kitchen waste.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with baristas and front-of-house staff to resolve dietary requests, allergies, or ticket delays.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1+ years of experience as a short-order cook, line cook, prep cook, or kitchen assistant preferred (café, diner, or casual dining experience is a plus).
- Certifications: Food Handler Certificate / Food Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain before starting).
- Skills:
- Basic knife skills and familiarity with standard kitchen equipment (griddles, ovens, slicers).
- Ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure during rush hours.
- Strong attention to detail regarding food portioning, presentation, and recipe adherence.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
