Role Summary

As an Ops Engineer, you'll be part of a cross-functional engineering team responsible for maintaining stable, secure, and high-performing platforms that enable ING's Cards ecosystem. You'll collaborate closely with developers, architects, product teams, and stakeholders across multiple countries to support application reliability, optimize CI/CD processes, automate operational tasks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to work on critical banking platforms that support card issuance, transaction processing, customer servicing, and platform enablement capabilities, while gaining international exposure and expanding your expertise in modern engineering practices.

The  Cards – Platform and Enablement Team provides the foundational platforms, operational support, and engineering capabilities that enable card products and services across ING markets. The team focuses on platform stability, operational excellence, automation, observability, and continuous improvement to ensure reliable and secure card services for customers.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Support the deployment, release, and operation of Cards platforms and enablement services.
• Drive automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Monitor application performance, reliability, availability, and operational health.
• Perform functional, regression, and performance testing activities.
• Troubleshoot incidents and coordinate resolution with development and stakeholder teams.
• Support application lifecycle management, change management, and continuous improvement practices.
• Collaborate with international teams across different time zones.
• Contribute to backlog refinement, operational excellence initiatives, and knowledge sharing.
• Help improve platform observability, monitoring, alerting, and resilience capabilities.

What We're Looking For

• Experience in DevOps, SRE, Application Support, Operations Engineering, or similar roles.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and operational best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipeline development.
• Experience with test automation, functional testing, and performance testing.
• Scripting and automation experience using tools such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
• Experience supporting Linux and Windows environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, global, and Agile environment.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for learning and continuous improvement.
• Exposure to Rest APIs using Java Spring Boot

Nice to Have

• Docker and Kubernetes
• Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability tools
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Systems Administration experience
• Configuration Management experience
• Networking knowledge and experience
• Experience supporting payment processing, card servicing, or financial transaction platforms
