Property Accountant

We are looking for a highly detail-oriented Property Accountant to support financial reporting, account reconciliations, property accounting functions, and month-end close activities across multiple real estate entities.

This role is responsible for performing financial reviews, preparing accounting entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, assisting with financial statement preparation, supporting audits, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. The successful candidate will work closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller to support the accounting operations of a growing multifamily real estate portfolio.

What Is Your Mission?

You will provide exceptional service to our partner brands by:

• Performing month-end reviews and accounting entries for 20+ financial entities
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts, including:
• Bank reconciliations
• Mortgage statement verification
• Accounts Receivable (A/R), Security Deposit, and Accounts Payable (A/P) tie-outs
• Prepaid expense and liability account reviews
• Month-end equity reviews
• Conducting monthly income statement reviews to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Reviewing accruals and identifying missing or duplicate entries to maintain financial accuracy
• Verifying utility accruals using the most recent billing information
• Identifying payments made in error, vendor discrepancies, and tenant credit applications
• Reviewing account coding and preparing reclassifications for miscoded transactions and capital adjustments
• Preparing accounting entries to support financial reviews and third-party accounting requirements
• Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Supporting the development and implementation of accounting procedures, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Assisting with annual audits and coordinating with external audit teams
• Serving as a source of information for internal inquiries related to assigned properties
• Analyzing cash requirements and facilitating monthly cash transfer requests as needed

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
• One to three years of experience working with financial statements and general accounting procedures
• Experience with Yardi or real estate accounting is an advantage
• Experience using Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting
• Experience supporting month-end close and account reconciliation activities is preferred
