The opportunity
Join QBE as a Cyber Security Governance Analyst and help strengthen the governance of Shadow IT and business-managed technology. You’ll collaborate across business, technology and risk teams to support effective controls, informed decision-making and operational resilience.

Your new role:
In this role, you’ll support Shadow IT discovery and assessment, technology governance, compliance monitoring and risk remediation. You’ll contribute to governance frameworks, reporting and process improvements that strengthen cyber risk management across QBE.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Identify and assess Shadow IT, Business-Managed IT and third-party-mandated solutions against governance and control requirements.
- Document technology risks and control gaps, maintain inventories and risk registers, and track remediation actions.
- Monitor compliance, coordinate periodic reviews and support governance approvals, risk acceptances and policy exceptions.
- Partner with business, Technology, Cyber Security, Risk, Privacy, Compliance and Procurement teams to address identified risks.
- Maintain governance dashboards and analyse risk trends, compliance measures and remediation progress to support governance reporting.
- Improve governance processes, guidance and tools to strengthen efficiency, user experience and operational resilience.
About You
You are an analytical and collaborative cyber security or technology risk professional with a structured approach to assessing risk and solving problems. You can translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes, communicate effectively with different stakeholders and manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail. You bring a proactive, customer-focused approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
You'll also have:
- Experience in cyber security, information security, technology risk, IT governance, operational risk or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting risk assessments, technology governance or compliance programs, including Shadow IT or SaaS governance.
- Knowledge of cyber security risk management principles and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF or COBIT.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical risks into clear business outcomes.
- Familiarity with governance, risk and compliance platforms, workflow tools, cloud technologies, SaaS platforms or technology inventory solutions.
- A relevant degree or professional certification such as Security+, CISA, CRISC, CGRC, COBIT Foundation or ISO 27001 Foundation is preferred, along with experience in regulated industries.
