Criminal Records Research & Analysis Specialist

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Criminal Records Research & Analysis Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive criminal records searches, analyzing findings for accuracy and relevance, and ensuring strict compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth criminal records searches across multiple databases and platforms.
• Review and analyze service alerts and returned records to assess relevance, accuracy, and potential risk.
• Distinguish true matches from false positives using identifiers such as name, date of birth (DOB), Social Security Number (SSN), and jurisdictional data.
• Validate findings in accordance with defined adjudication matrices.
• Flag and escalate records that meet adverse criteria for further review.
• Investigate discrepancies, incomplete records, or conflicting information.
• Accurately document and maintain findings in background screening systems.
• Ensure all records are complete, consistent, and audit-ready.
• Maintain high standards of data integrity and quality assurance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), data privacy regulations, and client-specific requirements.
• Handle sensitive personal information with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience in criminal records research, background screening, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of criminal justice systems, legal compliance, and data privacy regulations (e.g., FCRA, GDPR).
• Familiarity with court systems and databases such as PACER and other criminal record registries.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to accurately differentiate between true matches and false positives.
• Experience with background screening tools and documentation systems preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
