An Accounting Intern assists the finance department with daily bookkeeping, data entry, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Typically an undergraduate or recent graduate, this role focuses on bridging academic theory with practical, hands-on experience in tax compliance, accounts payable/receivable, and auditing
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Bookkeeping & Data Entry: Process and record day-to-day financial transactions, including vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments.
- Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling bank statements, credit card accounts, and ledger entries to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Financial Reporting: Support the team during month-end or year-end close by preparing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Tax Compliance & Payroll: Help prepare basic tax forms, schedules, and payroll-related data (e.g., government and statutory remittances).
- Administrative Support: Maintain filing systems, archive financial records, and organize documentation for internal or external audits. [
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Currently pursuing or recently holding a bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Financial Management, or a related business course.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and basic familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, or cloud systems).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive financial data with integrity.
