About The Role

A note on this engagement: This is a project-based position at Bound Interactive. You will be engaged for the duration of a specific client project or internal initiative, with an anticipated term of approximately 6 months. We are committed to transparency — we will always be clear about the nature of engagements we hire for. While project-based roles can and do lead to permanent opportunities at Bound, we do not make that guarantee. If project timelines change, we will communicate with you as early as possible.

You'll join Bound's Data & AI team on an engagement with an Australian fintech that is consolidating its data platform onto Snowflake, dbt Cloud and Fivetran. This is a redesign, not a lift-and-shift: you'll review and rebuild the intermediate and marts layers, design a conformed dimensional model, and prove that new reporting outputs reconcile exactly with the legacy data warehouse so analysts can cut over with confidence.

You'll work day-to-day alongside the client's data lead in a short, focused delivery window, and report to Bound's engagement lead.

What Does A Typical Day Look Like?

• Reviewing in-progress Silver (intermediate) dbt models against modelling best practice, and flagging issues with grain, naming, duplicated logic and dependencies
• Designing and building conformed dimensions and fact tables in the Gold (marts) layer
• Pairing with the client's data lead to make design decisions quickly and keep the build moving
• Untangling legacy orchestration — circular and manual dependencies, inconsistent scheduling — and replacing it with clean, simple dbt Cloud job design
• Building reconciliation tests that compare new Gold and reporting-layer outputs against legacy reporting, and documenting and resolving variances
• Working asynchronously across time zones through clear written updates, design notes and pull request descriptions, with a dependable daily overlap window with AEST

Qualifications and Experience

• 6–10+ years in data or analytics engineering, with substantial hands-on dimensional modelling
• Proven delivery of dbt and Snowflake at production scale
• Experience redesigning (not lifting and shifting) legacy stacks such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, Azure Functions or dbt Core
• Consultancy or client-facing experience, ideally within distributed or nearshore teams
• Financial services or lending domain experience is highly regarded; dbt or Snowflake certifications are desirable
• Tertiary qualification in computer science, information systems, mathematics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
