Distributed DB2 System Administrator

The Distributed DB2 System Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing IBM DB2 databases across distributed environments. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of DB2 systems while supporting application teams and business operations. Key Responsibilities DB2 Installation: Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 instances in distributed environments (Windows, Linux, UNIX). Database Administration: Manage schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures. Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize query performance, memory usage, and I/O throughput. Backup & Recovery: Implement disaster recovery solutions, backup schedules, and restore procedures. Security Management: Enforce authentication, authorization, and encryption policies. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Use tools like IBM Data Studio, db2pd, and monitoring scripts to detect and resolve issues. Automation: Develop scripts for routine tasks (shell, PowerShell, Python). Collaboration: Work with developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support application deployments. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 5+ years of experience in DB2 administration in distributed systems. Strong knowledge of SQL, database design, and query optimization. Experience with high availability setups (HADR, clustering). Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud) is a plus. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
