Physical Therapist

The Physical Therapist (PT) is responsible in ensuring that the Patient receives quality treatment from vital signs checking, initial assessment, treatment plan, treatment execution, documentation, and home exercise program design.

For the treatment, these are the PT’s duties and responsibilities:

1. Checks the vital signs of the Patient, including but not limited to their blood pressure, respiratory rate and heart rate, and confirms their readiness for the treatment based on the PT Manual.
2. Assesses the Patient's overall performance by methods such as reviewing records, Patient and family medical history, and gathering relevant information.
3. Performs an initial evaluation/assessment to establish a prognosis/plan of care.
4. Designs the treatment plan tailored fit for the Patient's goals and needs, based on the initial evaluation and/or physician’s referral and prescription.
5. Administers physical therapy treatments by giving soft tissue mobilization, microcurrent therapy, shockwave therapy, dry needling, myofascial cupping, vibration massage therapy, applying physical agents, and ultrasound machines, and other related treatments.
6. Executes treatment plan by administering manual exercises, instructing, encouraging, and assisting the Patient in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily activities and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
7. Evaluates effects of physical therapy treatments by observing, documenting, and evaluating Patient's progress, and recommending adjustments and modifications accordingly.
8. Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; and recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.

To maintain professionalism and clinic credibility, these are the PT’s duties and responsibilities:

1. Ensures compliance to procedures, policies and regulations as stated in the Clinic’s Manual and as expressed by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and related governing bodies in Physical Therapy.
2. Complies with the Data Privacy Act and maintains Patient and Clinic Information Confidentiality.
3. Maintains professional working relationship within the Clinic and towards the Patients.
4. Maintains safe and clean working environment.
5. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
6. Reviews log sheets and Patient’s appointments to ensure accuracy and completeness of regular reports and scheduling.
7. Promotes teamwork, and shares best practices and learning, especially from Clinic-initiated seminars and training.
8. Performs other duties inherent to the position or those assigned from time to time, such as but not limited to administrative tasks in the absence of the Clinic Front Desk Receptionist.
