We are looking for a Mechanical/HVAC Draftsperson to support project delivery.

Drafting is the primary focus of this role, but it is structured more broadly than a pure drafting position. The successful candidate will also support equipment selection and client approvals, and assist with compiling project close-out (O&M) manuals.

We recognise that our drafting workload alone may not sustain a full-time position on its own, which is part of why this role is structured across three related areas: drafting, equipment schedules, and manuals.

Above everything else, this is a quality-first role. Our drawings are used directly by duct manufacturers to fabricate ductwork, and directly by site installers to install it. There is no second layer of checking between what you draw and what gets built.

That means the standard we're recruiting to is precision and thoroughness, not speed. We need someone who genuinely cares about getting every element of a drawing right, who double-checks their own work as a matter of habit, and who takes real pride in handing over documentation that a fabricator and an installer can simply pick up and trust.

What You'll Do

• Drafting & Documentation (Primary Responsibility)
  
• Produce CAD drawings for mechanical/HVAC installations, including ductwork layouts, plant rooms, and equipment installations.
  
• Draw to the level of detail a duct manufacturer needs to fabricate the ductwork directly from your drawings. This includes duct dimensions, bend/radius sizing, insulation thickness allowances, and set-downs. Nothing should be left for the duct shop to guess at.
  
• Make it fit properly. Every duct run, pipe, and piece of plant you draw has to be checked and coordinated against the structure and against every other trade's services, so what's on the page is what will actually go in on site.
  
• Include the detail site installers need to install the work exactly as designed, including duct height and level, and locations referenced against fixed, identifiable site features.
  
• Nominate every air outlet individually. Every grille, diffuser, and louvre needs its type, size, and design airflow shown on the drawing, with its own unique reference number or tag.
  
• Keep drawings and schedules in lockstep. Tag numbers, sizes, and airflows shown on the drawing must match the schedule exactly.
  
• Where a single drawing becomes cluttered or difficult to read, split information across multiple drawings to improve readability.
  
• Self-review all work before submission by checking for clutter, missing tags, incorrect dimensions, missing information, or inconsistencies before presenting for approval.
  
• Equipment Selection & Schedules
  
• Prepare equipment schedules and present them to clients for review and sign-off.
  
• Once a schedule is approved, liaise directly with suppliers to obtain equipment data, including physical dimensions, spigot sizes, and duct connection sizes, and incorporate this information accurately into drawings.
  
• Project Close-Out Documentation
  
• Assist with compiling operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals at project completion, including collating manufacturers’ technical data sheets for all installed equipment.
  
• Write clear, plain-language descriptions explaining how building occupants operate and interact with air conditioning systems for inclusion in client handover manuals

• Required Skills & Experience
  
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD), with experience drafting mechanical/HVAC services.
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  
• Proficiency with Adobe applications (e.g. Acrobat) for PDF markup and document preparation.
  
• Strong attention to detail and a self-critical approach to checking the quality of your own work
