- Caring for children: This includes providing basic needs such as feeding, changing diapers, and assisting with toileting. It also involves ensuring children's safety and well-being, both physically and emotionally.

- Creating a positive learning environment: Childcare teachers strive to create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable and engaged.
- Communicating with parents: Childcare teachers regularly communicate with parents about their children's progress, development, and well-being. This may involve daily or weekly reports, phone calls, or parent-teacher conferences.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment: Childcare teachers are responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for children, including sanitizing toys, cleaning play areas, and following safety guidelines.
- Education: Many positions require some level of education in early childhood education, such as an associate's or bachelor's degree.
- Experience: Prior experience working with young children is often preferred.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Other important skills include patience, creativity, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with a team.
