The Opportunity
We are a US-based company building multiple internal and customer-facing technology products across healthcare, sales automation, and AI-enabled workflows.
We are seeking a Part-Time Head of Technology to provide senior-level oversight of technical execution across teams and products. This role is designed for an experienced technical leader who enjoys bringing clarity, discipline, and predictability to development environments — without the demands of a full-time executive role.
Role Summary
You will serve as the single point of accountability for technical execution, ensuring that development efforts are aligned with business priorities, scoped correctly, and delivered with consistency.
Your mandate is to simplify decision-making, enforce standards, and remove operational friction — allowing the founder to step away from day-to-day technical management.
This is an oversight and execution leadership role, not a co-founder or equity position.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Execution & Delivery
• Own technical delivery across all active products
• Oversee external development teams (primarily offshore)
• Lead or supervise:
o Sprint planning
o Weekly execution reviews
o Demo-based delivery validation
• Enforce delivery standards, scope discipline, and realistic timelines
Business-to-Technical Leadership
• Translate business objectives into:
o Clear technical requirements
o Well-defined tasks
o Objective acceptance criteria
• Ensure work is fully understood before development begins
Architecture & Quality Governance
• Review architectural decisions to maintain:
o Simplicity
o Maintainability
o Business-aligned design
• Conduct high-level code and structure reviews to ensure quality
AI & Automation Governance
• Provide pragmatic judgment on AI and automation initiatives
• Determine appropriate use of:
o Rule-based systems
o Machine learning (when justified)
• Prevent unnecessary complexity and speculative development
Risk, IP & Access Control
• Ensure proper repository access, product separation, and documentation
• Reduce dependency on individual contributors through structure and process
Executive Reporting & Founder Shielding
• Resolve technical questions independently before escalation
• Deliver concise weekly summaries covering:
o Progress
o Risks and blockers
o Next priorities
• Significantly reduce founder involvement in technical discussions
Job Requirements
• Senior engineer, technical lead, or engineering manager background
• Demonstrated experience managing remote or offshore teams
• Strong written and verbal English communication
• Confident decision-maker who can challenge teams constructively
• Practical expertise in:
o Web application development
o APIs and backend systems
o Databases
o Applied AI and automation concepts
