Electrical Estimator - Australia

We are looking for a sharp, detail-focused Electrical Estimator to join an established Australian electrical contracting business, working fully remotely with a supportive team and genuine room to grow as the business scales.

Role Summary
This role owns the estimating process end to end, from reviewing incoming enquiries, plans and scopes of work through to preparing, pricing and submitting accurate quotes and tenders across residential, commercial and Level 2 network connected jobs. Day to day, you will prepare quantity take offs for materials, cabling, fittings and equipment, price jobs by costing materials and labor and applying margins, and negotiate with suppliers and wholesalers to keep pricing current. You will also maintain pricing lists and estimating templates, track outstanding quotes and win rates, and liaise closely with office and field teams to clarify scope before numbers go out. There is genuine room to grow with the business as it scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Review incoming enquiries, drawings, plans and scopes of work to understand exactly what each job requires

• Prepare accurate quantity take offs for materials, cabling, fittings and equipment across residential, commercial and Level 2 network connected jobs

• Price jobs by costing materials and labor and applying margins in line with the business's pricing structure

• Request, compare and negotiate quotes from suppliers and wholesalers to keep estimates competitive and current

• Prepare and submit clear, professional quotes, proposals and tender responses within agreed timeframes

• Follow up on outstanding quotes, track win rates and keep the pipeline updated so nothing slips through

• Maintain and refine pricing lists, estimating templates and standard rates as costs and suppliers change

• Liaise with the office and field teams to clarify scope, variations and site requirements before finalizing numbers

• Support the quoting side of insurance, strata and defect rectification work where detailed cost breakdowns are needed

What We Are Looking For

• 2+ years' experience as an estimator, quoting officer or in a similar cost estimating role within the Australian electrical, construction or a related trades industry

• A sound understanding of electrical works and terminology, with the ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and scopes of work

• Strong numeracy and commercial awareness, comfortable working with margins, materials pricing and labor rates

• Confident using estimating and quoting software and spreadsheets, and quick to pick up new systems

• Meticulous attention to detail, so quotes go out accurately and complete the first time

• Strong organization, able to manage multiple quotes and deadlines without being told twice

• Genuinely proactive, flagging risks, variations and better pricing rather than just processing numbers

• Excellent written and spoken English
