Our company is looking for a Chief Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the disposal of sludge, bilge waters, oily waters and exhausted oils in accordance with national and international regulations;
  • Works closely with their primary assistant for general daily operations in the engine room;
  • Identify and introduce environmentally-friendly systems and equipment;
  • Liaise on a daily basis with the Director of Operations to ensure project work is being completed in time and to the correct specifications;
  • Communicate with Housekeeping to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for Guest rooms and public areas;
  • Develop, implement, and direct all emergency programs;
  • Develop, implement and manage energy conservation programs for the property to minimize expenses;
  • Perform daily checks around the hotel;
  • Ensure good relationships are built with internal and external customers;
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is carried out to the highest quality and standard;
  • Provide an exceptional service to our guests adhering to Hilton Brand standards;
  • Maintain the quality of the Hotel whilst adhering to the Hilton Brand Standards;
  • Ensure all maintenance reports are followed up immediately and delegated out to the appropriate Team Member;
  • Conduct lift emergency release procedures as required;
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A recognised medical certification is required before starting to work on board;
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience of which 10 years’ experience within a Principle Engineer role in a modern complex plant;
  • New Zealand Registered Electrician (required);
  • Engineering Degree or similar;
  • Physically and mentally fit for sea duty;
  • Knowledge of materials and fabrication;
  • Management and leadership experience;
  • Previous experience of facilities management;
  • Exposure to budgeting and basic accounting;
  • Have completed approved education and training and meet standard of competence specified in section A-III/3 of the STCW code;
  • Turnaround experience (at least 3 turnarounds from beginning to end);
  • With at least 2 years related work experience in position applied for and preferably with (Wartsila/Sulzeror MAN ME experience);
  • Evaluation of seismic/ cyclone/ degradation stresses;
  • Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering;
  • In possession of training certificates and MARINA COP.
