Job Description
We are looking for an energetic, well-versed Staff Accountant who is looking for an opportunity to join a well-funded insurance "start-up" that will be writing both admitted and non-admitted business in 50 states. You would join an incredibly talented and experienced operating team and be instrumental in growing our business and appropriately rewarded.
- Preparing journal entries for monthly general ledger close
- Reviewing and processing AP invoices and expense reports
- Responsible for assisting in maintaining general ledger account balances, in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Assist in preparing accurate monthly financial reports. Reconciles and validates organization’s general ledger accounts.
- Completes routine accounting assignments.
- Reviews and analyzes financial statement accounts for accuracy, budget variance and unusual trends
- Maintains fixed asset and prepaid accounts.
- Ensures that comprehensive accounting records are maintained in an organized manner.
- Posts journal entries and prepares analysis schedules.
- Assists with month-end close processes.
- Special projects and any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2-5 years accounting experience, insurance industry experience a plus
- Able to work independently through projects assigned
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills
- Quick learner and with the ability to adapt to changing work requirements
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Problem solver
- Detail and results oriented
