Machinist

Incumbent is responsible to perform machine shop duties starting from reading / understanding job specific technical drawing and set-up / operation manuals of basic machine tools, as well as conducting detailed measurements and tests, using required measuring equipment (ME), for the finished tool after machining.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Sets up and run fabrication machines, such as Lathe Machine, Milling Machine, Surface Grinder and other related equipment, independently. Do alignments, secure holding fixtures, cutting tools attachments, machine accessories and materials onto machines and monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.

2. Study sample parts, reads and interprets technical drawings, blue prints and engineering specifications in order to determine methods and sequences of operation needed to facilitate an sequential fabrication.

3. Do detailed measurements and precise calculation of dimensions and tolerances, using knowledge in mathematics and with the aid of instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge block and related measuring tools, based on supplied designed media.

4. Measures, examines and test completed units, in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to pre-required specifications.

5. Maintains industrial machines and machine shop tools thru applied knowledge on mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, lay out and precise machining procedures.

6. Prepare and accomplish machine shop logs for Machine Shop Coordinator’s review

7. Report abnormality in day to day Machine Shop operations to the Machine Shop Coordinator.

8. Facilitate necessary cleaning, lubrication, repairs and/or replacement of machine parts and accessories or as instructed by immediate superior.

9. Comply with the company Safety Regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

10. Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

11. Recommend equipment improvement for cost saving project.
