Truck Driver

A trailer truck driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods using a trailer truck, including pre- and post-trip inspections, route planning, and maintaining vehicle logs. They also handle cargo loading and unloading, ensure proper securing of loads, and comply with all applicable trucking regulations and safety protocol

Cargo Handling:

• Loading and Unloading: Assist with the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring safety and proper securing of the load. 
• Cargo Security: Ensure that the cargo is properly secured during transport to prevent damage or loss. 
• Inventory: Verify cargo loads against paperwork and ensure accuracy. 

Paperwork and Documentation:

• Delivery Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork for deliveries, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and other required documents.
• Accurate Records: Maintain accurate records of all deliveries and other relevant information. 

• Driving Experience: Some employers prefer a few years of professional driving experience or related work experience. 
• Clean Driving Record: A clean driving record with no recent moving violations is essential. 
• Route Planning: Knowledge of route planning using maps and GPS is important for long-distance drivers. 
• Vehicle Maintenance: Basic understanding of truck and trailer maintenance is helpful. 
• Physical Fitness: Truck drivers need to be able to sit for long periods, perform maintenance, and potentially lift heavy objects. 
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills: You'll need to communicate with dispatchers, customers, and other staff.
