Chief Mechanic

ESSENTIAL ROLES: executes the general job functions and activities safely according to company policy & procedures, OEM guidelines, good industry practice and in compliance with client policy. Responsible for the safe operation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment on the rig by proper implementation of the Computerized Maintenance Management System. It’s mandatory that he follows and obeys all supervisors’ instructions to work at any job, at any time in any place as long as it’s safe. Supervise and train Mechanical Maintenance Staff.

Tasks 

1 Conducts operations in a safe manner according to GNDC policies and procedures

2 Follow Management of Safety Critical Equipment Process, Override procedure and MoC where ever applicable. 

3 Monitor the operational performance of the Company’s equipment. Identify areas for improvement.

4 Assist the Senior Toolpusher prepare purchase orders for the purchase of equipment and supplies.

5 Review all Operational/Technical bulletins, communicate pertinent points to crew members and implement all directives as required.

7 Assure that all equipment is properly used and maintained by the rig operating personnel and when applicable, train crews and rig supervisors in the proper handling of mechanical equipment. 

8 effective staff leadership and communication. Appraise each direct report annually on a constant rolling feedback basis. 

9 Take immediate action on performance improvement issues and pursue a direct response culture (positive and negative) to the employee, secure a prompt feedback

• Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience Level: More than 10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Skills and Competencies: Proficiency in mechanical engineering principles, truck/heavy mechanic expertise, machine setup, and tool selection.
• Responsibilities and Duties: Oversee repair projects, conduct maintenance inspections, and ensure efficient machine operations.
• Working Conditions: On-site in warehouses or workshops; occasional outdoor environments.
• Qualities and Traits: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, teamwork, and a proactive attitude.
