Content Lead

Work Arrangement / Work Shift: Day Shift (w/ flexibility)

Role Overview:

Owns the organic content strategy end to end: what we publish, why, and how it performs. Acts as the bridge between the technical SEO consultant, the PPC and PR owners, and the writers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Conduct keyword, search intent and SERP research across the funnel; recommend what to create, update or retire based on SEO opportunities, content performance, and brand strategy.

• Write briefs that freelance writers can execute independently without requiring additional calls for clarification.

• Edit content for clarity, brand voice, conversion and on-page SEO, ensuring alignment with established brand guidelines.

• Translate the technical SEO consultant’s audits into prioritised content fixes and coordinate implementation where needed.

• Address content-side SEO issues directly, including keyword cannibalisation, thin content, internal linking and heading structure.

• Monitor Google Search Console and an SEO crawler between consultant engagements; identify and flag regressions.

• Own content performance reporting in GA4 and Google Search Console, connecting organic content performance to leads and revenue where measurable.

• Coordinate with the PPC and PR owners on landing pages, ad copy and shared search-term insights.

• Manage freelance writers, including assigning work, reviewing deliverables and maintaining quality standards.

• Maintain the editorial calendar, keyword map and content brief templates in shared company systems.

What You’ll Need:

• 4+ years in content marketing or SEO

• Keyword and intent research; competitor and SERP analysis

• Content auditing: update vs rewrite vs kill decisions using traffic, conversions and decay

• Technical SEO literacy: can understand and explain canonicals, crawl budget, redirect chains, schema and internal linking, and knows which fixes are content-side and which are dev-side

• Search Console and a crawler (Screaming Frog or similar) at a working level

• GA4 fluency and the ability to build a report that ties content to business outcomes

• Strong brief writing and editing

• Working knowledge of how AI search surfaces treat content and how to write for citation, not just ranking

• Experience managing freelancers or a small team

• Light PPC and PR exposure (landing page tests, ad copy)

• Experience working alongside an external SEO consultant
