Description
As a Calf Rearer, you will be responsible for the care and management of calves on the farm.
- Feed calves with milk, milk replacer, and starter feeds according to schedule.
- Prepare and mix milk or formula following proper nutrition guidelines.
- Monitor calf health, growth, appetite, and behavior daily.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain calf pens, hutches, feeding bottles, and buckets.
- Assist newborn calves immediately after birth (drying, feeding colostrum).
- Identify and report signs of sickness such as diarrhea, coughing, or weakness.
- Administer basic treatments and medications under veterinary supervision.
- Ensure calves receive proper vaccinations and health checks.
- Maintain clean bedding and ensure warm, dry, and safe housing.
- Weigh calves and record growth, feeding, and health data.
- Assist with weaning and transition from milk to solid feed.
- Follow animal welfare standards, biosecurity rules, and farm safety procedures.
- Support general farm activities as required by the supervisor.
