Jr. Auditor

Job Description:

The Junior Auditor is responsible for assisting in the execution of audit engagements, including financial, operational, and compliance audits. The role supports the Internal Audit team in evaluating internal controls, verifying transactions, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures across retail stores, warehouse operations, and head office functions.

Scope of Responsibility

The Junior Auditor performs audit procedures under the supervision of the Senior Auditor or Audit Manager and participates in audits covering retail branches, warehouse, and corporate departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Audit Support and Fieldwork

a. Assist in conducting audit engagements in accordance with the approved audit plan.

b. Perform assigned audit procedures such as inspection, observation, and verification.

c. Participate in store visits and branch audits as scheduled.

2. Financial Verification

a. Check accuracy of sales transactions, receipts, and supporting documents.

b. Assist in verifying cash collections, petty cash, and bank deposits.

c. Review basic accounting records and report discrepancies.

3. Inventory Audit

a. Assist in physical inventory counts at stores and warehouse.

b. Verify stock movements, quantities, and variances.

c. Check for expired, damaged, or slow-moving items.

4. Compliance Checking

a. Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.

b. Identify and report any deviations or non-compliance issues.

6. Documentation

a. Prepare and maintain accurate audit working papers and supporting documents.

b. Properly file and organize audit evidence for review.

7. Reporting Assistance

a. Assist in drafting audit observations and findings.

b. Report issues and discrepancies to the Senior Auditor or Audit Manager.

8. Follow-Up Support

a. Assist in monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations.

b. Participate in follow-up audits as assigned.

9. Administrative Tasks

a. Perform audit-related administrative duties such as data encoding, report preparation, and document retrieval.

b. Maintain confidentiality of all audit information.

10. Coordination

a. Coordinate with store personnel and other departments during audit activities.

b. Respond to basic audit inquiries under supervision.

11. Authority

The Junior Auditor is authorized to:

a. Access relevant documents and records necessary for assigned audit tasks.

b. Conduct audit procedures under the guidance of the Senior Auditor or Audit Manager.

12. Accountability

The Junior Auditor is accountable for:

a. Accuracy and completeness of assigned audit tasks.

b. Timely submission of audit work and documentation.

c. Compliance with audit procedures and instructions.

d. Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
