1. Client Description

The organization is a leading international infrastructure and industrial contractor executing high-profile energy, resource, and heavy civil construction developments globally. They specialize in managing large-scale project execution frameworks, driving strict on-site productivity, and maintaining high safety, design, and quality standards on complex greenfield industrial sites.

2. Scope

• Project Type : A major greenfield industrial construction project.

• Location : Site-based in Papua New Guinea .

• Hierarchy : Reports directly to the Construction Manager.

• Primary Mandate : Responsible for providing high-level field leadership and tactical oversight for the execution of massive foundations, heavy reinforced concrete structures, and complex formwork operations.

• Target Pool : Western Expatriate or strong Other Country National (OCN) candidate.

3. Key Responsibilities

• Structural Concrete Supervision : Oversee the day-to-day execution of bulk foundations, heavy reinforced concrete structures, retaining walls, and industrial equipment pedestals.

• Formwork & Scaffolding Control : Supervise the design, safe erection, inspection, and stripping of complex heavy-duty formwork systems and temporary scaffolding structures.

• Logistics & Concrete Delivery : Coordinate large-scale concrete delivery, batch plant logistics, pouring schedules, and continuous on-site placement maneuvers to ensure seamless structural pours.

• Reinforcement Oversight : Direct subcontractor crews in the precise bending, cutting, tying, and technical placement of heavy rebar and reinforcement meshes in strict compliance with engineering drawings.

• Interface & Multi-Trade Coordination : Manage operational interfaces with earthworks, embedded structural steel parts, piping, and quality/QA-QC teams to secure precise structural alignments.

• Quality Compliance & HSE Leadership : Ensure rigorous adherence to concrete curing specifications, testing regimes, and strict field safety protocols governing working-at-heights and heavy crane rigging operations.

4. Qualifications

• Education : Hold a Trade qualification, Technical Diploma, or a University Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related structural discipline.

• Essential Experience :

  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in heavy civil, industrial, mining, LNG, or infrastructure construction projects.

  • Proven track record supervising massive concrete pours, deep foundation structures, and sophisticated formwork assemblies.

  • Extensive experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary workforces within remote, fast-paced greenfield project environments.

• Technical Skills : Deep expertise in concrete batching specifications, heavy reinforcement architectures, structural tolerances, and advanced scaffolding systems.

• Personal Attributes : Decisive field leader, highly safety-conscious, and results-oriented with a practical approach to resolving technical site constraints and maximizing contractor productivity.
