Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 20hrs/week, aligned with US Pacific Time

About the Role: We're looking for a skilled graphic designer who specializes in publication layout in Adobe InDesign. You'll be the production engine behind our magazines and visitor guides. You'll design client ads to exact specs, lay out editorial pages, and assemble large, complex publications from start to finish.
This is a part-time role, and the workload varies with our publishing schedule. It's a good fit for someone who likes detailed layout work, can manage production independently, and thinks about how to work more efficiently, including with AI tools.Key Responsibilities:
Publication layoutLay out complex print publications of 100+ pages, including magazines and visitor guides, in Adobe InDesign.
Place editorial content, including copy, headlines, and photos, into clean, consistent, reader-friendly layouts.
Manage ad placement across each publication, making sure every ad lands in the right spot at the right size.
Prepare files that are ready for print and meet production standards.
Ad design
Design print ads to set dimensions, following client instructions and brand guidelines.
Revise ads based on client and team feedback, quickly and accurately.
Production and traffic management
"Run traffic" on design work: track what's in progress, what needs approval, and what's due, so nothing slips.
Coordinate with Scott and the team during Pacific Time working hours.
Working smarter
Use AI tools and automation to speed up repetitive tasks while keeping quality high.
Suggest improvements to our production workflow.
Must-have Qualifications:
Strong Adobe InDesign skills, especially for long, multi-page publications. This is essential.
A portfolio that includes magazine, catalog, visitor guide, or other publication layout work.
Experience designing print ads to spec from client instructions.
Strong attention to detail with typography, grids, image placement, and print production.
An "AI-first" mindset: you look for ways to use AI tools to work faster without cutting corners.
Reliability. You meet deadlines and track your hours accurately.
Availability for at least 4 hours of overlap with US Pacific Time.
Good written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience at a publishing company, print shop, magazine, or agency.
Skill in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Experience with email newsletter design, web design, or branding.
Comfort working in Google Workspace and in a client's own Adobe Creative Cloud account.
Experience managing a design production pipeline independently.
