The Practice - A Brief Sketch

As part of the Commerce Strategy & Transformation team, you will help clients define and deliver B2B, B2C, and B2B2C commerce capabilities. The role combines functional consulting, platform knowledge, solution shaping, and delivery, with expectations calibrated by level. Opportunities may be aligned to non-executive delivery roles or executive roles with broader leadership, client, and growth responsibilities. 

Key Responsibilities

Commerce Strategy & Business Transformation

• Define commerce strategies, transformation roadmaps, target operating models, and measurable business outcomes across B2B, B2C, and B2B2C channels. 

• Assess current customer and partner journeys, business processes, platform capabilities, and operational pain points to identify improvement opportunities. 

• Apply relevant industry practices across sectors such as retail, consumer goods, high tech, and other commerce-intensive industries. 

• Translate business priorities into actionable capabilities, requirements, and phased implementation plans. 

B2B, B2C and B2B2C Commerce

• Design connected commerce journeys covering discovery, catalog, pricing, promotions, quoting, ordering, checkout, payment, fulfillment, returns, and post-purchase service. 

• Address B2B requirements such as account hierarchies, buyer roles, contract pricing, negotiated catalogs, approval workflows, bulk ordering, and assisted sales. 

• Address B2C requirements such as personalized storefront experiences, promotions, loyalty, customer accounts, omnichannel fulfillment, and service integration. 

• Shape B2B2C models that connect brands, distributors, dealers, franchisees, marketplaces, and end customers while clarifying channel roles, data ownership, and experience standards. 

• Help clients balance customer experience, revenue growth, cost-to-serve, channel adoption, and operational feasibility. 

Platform Functional Consulting - SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) / SFCC

• Bring functional knowledge of SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) and/or Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC), including platform capabilities, business-user configuration, and common constraints. 

• Lead or support fit-gap assessments, capability mapping, requirements definition, process design, backlog creation, and solution validation. 

• Convert business needs into clear process flows, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications that delivery teams can use. 

• Partner with architecture, engineering, integration, data, UX, testing, security, and operations teams to align business outcomes with feasible solutions. 

• Plan and facilitate demonstrations, design workshops, playback sessions, user acceptance testing, deployment readiness, and change adoption activities. 

• Consider the wider commerce ecosystem, including content, product information, order management, customer data, payments, tax, logistics, marketplaces, analytics, and customer service.

Consulting & Delivery

• Build trusted client relationships through structured problem solving, clear communication, and practical recommendations. 

• Support or lead workstreams from discovery and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and value realization. 

• Create concise, insight-driven client deliverables and executive-ready updates that connect platform decisions to business outcomes. 

• Identify risks, dependencies, decisions, and actions early, and coordinate stakeholders to keep delivery on track. 

• Contribute to commerce capability building, reusable assets, knowledge sharing, and proposals. 

Role Expectations by Level

Commerce Consultant / Management Consultant

• Own defined analysis or delivery workstreams with guidance from senior leaders. 

• Conduct research, stakeholder interviews, journey and process analysis, requirements gathering, and functional documentation. 

• Facilitate working sessions and communicate recommendations to business and delivery stakeholders. 

• Act as the bridge between client business teams and platform delivery teams. 

• Support solution demonstrations, testing, training, deployment readiness, and adoption. 

Commerce Consulting Manager / Management Consulting Manager

• Lead commerce transformation or platform-functional workstreams and manage multidisciplinary teams. 

• Shape the problem statement, approach, scope, roadmap, governance, and expected business value. 

• Guide consultants and analysts, review deliverables, manage quality, and resolve cross-team issues. 

• Facilitate senior stakeholder discussions and translate strategic decisions into executable plans. 

• Support opportunity shaping, solutioning, estimation, proposals, and development of reusable commerce offerings.

Commerce Consultant / Management Consultant

• 4+ years of experience in commerce consulting, digital commerce, business transformation, product ownership, business analysis, or platform-functional delivery. 

• Hands-on experience in at least one B2B, B2C, or B2B2C commerce initiative. 

• Functional experience with SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) and/or Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC). 

• Ability to analyze business processes, define requirements, create user stories, and support solution validation. 

• Strong problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, presentation, and written communication skills. 

• Comfort working across business and technology teams in fast-paced and evolving environments. 

Commerce Consulting Manager / Management Consulting Manager

• 8+ years of experience delivering commerce, digital platform, customer experience, or business transformation initiatives. 

• Proven experience leading B2B, B2C, or B2B2C commerce workstreams, preferably using SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) and/or SFCC. 

• Ability to translate commerce strategy into executable roadmaps, capabilities, requirements, and delivery plans. 

• Experience leading consultants, analysts, or multidisciplinary delivery teams and managing quality, risks, and dependencies. 

• Strong client-facing skills, including workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, and executive communication. 

• Experience supporting solution shaping, proposals, estimation, or practice development is preferred. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience. 

• Business-user, functional, or solution certifications in SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) or Salesforce Commerce Cloud. 

• Exposure to Adobe Commerce / Magento or other enterprise commerce platforms. 

• Knowledge of unified commerce ecosystems and integrations across product, content, customer, order, payment, tax, fulfillment, analytics, and service capabilities. 

• Experience in retail, consumer goods, high tech, distribution, manufacturing, or another commerce-intensive industry. 

• Change management, deployment readiness, training, or adoption experience.
