Credit Investigator

The Credit Investigator & Appraiser is responsible for conducting thorough credit investigations, background checks, and collateral appraisals to evaluate the creditworthiness and repayment capacity of loan applicants. The role involves verifying financial and personal information, conducting field visits, validating submitted documents, and preparing accurate credit and appraisal reports to support sound lending decisions.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct credit investigations and background checks on loan applicants
• Verify submitted personal, financial, and business information
• Perform field visits to applicants’ residences and business locations
• Conduct collateral inspections and prepare appraisal reports
• Analyze financial standing and repayment capacity of clients
• Coordinate with references, public officials, and other third parties for validation
• Prepare accurate and timely credit investigation and appraisal reports
• Ensure compliance with bank policies, lending procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain confidentiality of client information at all times
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Accountancy, or any related field
• Preferably with experience in credit investigation, appraisal, audit, lending, or related work in the banking or financial industry
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
• Knowledgeable in credit evaluation, banking procedures, and financial analysis
• Willing to conduct fieldwork and travel when necessary
• Can work independently and in a team environment
Preferred Skills
• Background in credit analytics and portfolio management
• Knowledge of banking regulations and lending practices
• Ability to prepare comprehensive investigation and appraisal reports
