Forward-Deployed Engineers build the systems that change how our clients operate. You build agents and workflows on the Origami platform (our shared foundation for building and deploying AI across client environments). You work in a small pod led by a Pod Lead, and you own meaningful parts of the system from design through to production.

Your focus is building. You also work with the people closest to the problem, alongside your Pod Lead, who manages the client relationship. You learn how their business works, test your assumptions with them, and make sure what you build is actually used.

Most engineers spend their careers inside one product or domain. At Origami you will build depth in AI systems and breadth across industries, working on the range of problems that define the next generation of software.

• Own parts of the client's system end to end: design, build, test, deploy and improve.
• Build across the stack: backend services, APIs, data pipelines, integrations and user interfaces.
• Build agents and workflows on the Origami platform, with evaluation, monitoring and human oversight built in.
• Work with client users, alongside your Pod Lead, to understand workflows, data and edge cases.
• Raise risks, trade-offs and better ideas to your Pod Lead early.
• Use AI coding tools to move faster, while holding a high bar for quality.
• Contribute reusable components and lessons back to the Origami platform.

AI expands what software can do, but systems people can trust need real engineering discipline. AI systems are probabilistic and keep changing. We build around clear objectives, rigorous evaluation and feedback loops, so that what we ship becomes more reliable over time.

As building gets easier, the advantage shifts to knowing what deserves to be built. Great engineers combine technical depth with systems thinking and taste, and use real-world results to refine their decisions.

• 3+ years of production engineering experience. You've built and shipped software used by real people and are comfortable working across the stack, from backend and infrastructure to user-facing features.
• Experience building AI systems in production. You've delivered AI agents, workflows, or similar systems beyond prototypes. You understand that building with AI takes more than connecting models. You think about evaluation, reliability, failure modes, feedback loops, and how systems improve over time.
• High ownership. You take problems from ambiguity to outcomes. You don't wait for perfectly defined tasks. You're comfortable forming a point of view, making decisions, and moving work forward.
• Comfort working across technical and business contexts. You can engage directly with technical and non-technical client stakeholders, ask the right questions, navigate trade-offs, and make decisions grounded in real business needs.
• Systems thinking. You look beyond the immediate technical problem and consider how software interacts with people, workflows, constraints, and business outcomes.
• An AI-native approach. You use AI tools daily in your own work and continuously explore how they can make you a more effective engineer.
• Low ego, high standards. You care more about finding the right answer than being right. You ask for help when needed, give honest feedback, and hold yourself and others to a high bar.

• Experience in consulting, agencies, or forward-deployed engineering roles.
• Proficiency in AWS, React with TypeScript, and Python.
