LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Laboratory Technologist performs complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests on patient specimens. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, Chief Medical Technologist, or Pathologist, this role operates sophisticated laboratory equipment, ensures strict quality control standards, and analyzes diagnostic samples to deliver accurate and timely results that assist physicians in making informed clinical decisions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

●Graduate of Bachelor of Science degree e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Pharmacy,, Medical Technology, Radiology Technology, Nursing, or an equivalent related medical course.

●Training and Experience : Two (2) years of experience as a laboratory Technician/ Assistant in clinical laboratory.

●Fresh graduates with impressive scholastic record are welcome to apply.

●Can work with shifting schedules.

●Candidate must be willing to work at E.Rodriguez, Cubao, Quezon City.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

●Receive orders of clients thru phone call, SMS message, facsimile message, and/ or email.

●Accurately log orders on designated Order Forms.

●Prepare correct sticker labels and other documents for delivery and shipment (such as packing list, transport certificate, and PAL forms)

●Sterilize vials & dispensing tools.

●Perform Daily Constancy on Dose Calibrator.

●Dispense radiopharmaceuticals (Tc99m/TI-201 / I-131)

●Pack radiopharmaceuticals for delivery

●Perform strict Quality Control on radiopharmaceuticals

●Proper waste disposal and clean-up of assigned area

●Assist in the inventory of supplies, etc.

●Assist in the management of radioactive waste

●Immediately reports any untoward incident to supervisor/ manager

●Endorsement of unfinished tasks

●Accurately accomplish assigned tasks.

●Maintain laboratory in clean and orderly condition;

●Perform other task as may be assigned from time to time.

Specimen Processing & Analysis: Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens (such as blood, tissue, urine, and body fluids) using automated analyzers, microscopes, and clinical laboratory equipment.

Testing Execution: Perform a wide array of specialized diagnostic tests across key laboratory departments, including Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Blood Bank (Immunohematology), and Histopathology.

Quality Control & Calibration: Conduct daily quality control checks, calibrate testing instruments, and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results and operational efficiency.

Result Verification & Reporting: Analyze test findings, verify accuracy, identify abnormal or panic values, and promptly report critical results to healthcare providers or clinical staff.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols, biosafety standards, proper waste disposal practices, and standard operating procedures to maintain a safe, sterile work environment.

Specimen & Inventory Management: Evaluate specimen integrity, reject substandard or contaminated samples when necessary, and assist in managing laboratory reagents, supplies, and stock levels.

Documentation & LIMS Maintenance: Accurately enter, document, and manage patient test data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) while adhering to patient privacy and data confidentiality regulations.
