ETL Developer

Role/Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the ETL Manager, this role is responsible for developing and delivering quality modules, tools and applications to support operations. This requires intermediate programming skills and understanding of relational databases.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Gathers the requirements and specifications of the assigned module, tool, or application.

2. Assesses the simplicity/complexity of the requirement, and works with the ETL manager to come up with the development schedule – development, QA, user acceptance test and release.

3. Creates wireframe, storyboard, prototype, or mock-up if and when necessary.

4. Collaborates with DBAs if there is a need to connect to one or more databases.

5. Researches for and evaluates software or hardware that may simplify the code or improve the performance.

6. Develops the assigned module, tool, or application using any or a combination of prescribed development software.

7. Runs unit test – manual or script-driven, prior to endorsing for quality check/assurance.

8. Commits source code to the prescribed code repository.

9. Edits, compiles, de-bugs and re-compiles/re-builds the code every after unit testing or regression testing.

10. Provides demo to end-users as a form of user acceptance.

11. Provides end-user training during launch.

12. Provides technical assistance; responds to inquiries/questions or address errors/problems encountered by end-users.

13. Performs root-cause analysis for bugs, and provides appropriate fix.

14. Facilitates or assists in the documentation.

15. Adheres to programming and development standards – industry and company-prescribed.

16. Performs demo or code walkthrough – during quality check or during coaching, training or mentoring another member of the development team.

17. Uses prescribed workflow monitoring tool and document management systems, such as but not limited to, Kanban Board, Alfresco, EDMS, and any other similar systems.

18. Leads or participates to focus group sessions after every launch or release to exchange ideas among the development team and within the department.
19. Reports security incidents and/or any identified security weaknesses.
20. Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related courses
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience in Information Technology or software development
• Intermediate knowledge of any of the following Relational Database systems: MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL
• Intermediate knowledge of any of the following programming languages: Java, Php, .Net technologies, C/C++
• Understanding of any of the following web design concepts: HTML, XHTML, CSS, Javascript
• General understanding of routine maintenance, recovery, and handling failover of a database
