Head of Accounting

We are a fast-growing container solutions company based in Lathrop, California, specialising in storage, logistics, and modular container services. Our mission is to deliver efficient, scalable, and sustainable solutions to businesses across multiple industries. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Accounting to lead our team.

Position Overview

The Head of Accounting will oversee all accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is both strategic and operational, requiring leadership experience, technical expertise, and the ability to support a growing business in a dynamic industry.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and manage the accounting department, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management
• Partner with executive leadership to support strategic financial decisions
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and best practices

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Coordinate audits and manage relationships with external auditors

Operational Accounting

• Manage general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
• Oversee revenue recognition and cost accounting specific to container operations
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance

Systems & Process Improvement

• Evaluate and improve accounting systems and workflows
• Lead optimization and administration of NetSuite ERP, including configurations, reporting, and integrations
• Implement automation and scalable processes to support growth
• Ensure data integrity across financial platforms

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes
• Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Required: Proven, hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP (implementation, optimisation, and reporting)
• Experience in logistics, manufacturing, or asset-heavy industries preferred
• Proven ability to scale accounting operations in a growing company
• Advanced proficiency in financial systems and ERP platforms
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
