Job Summary

Responsible for sorting, separating, and handling waste materials generated within the port area in accordance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and waste management policies. The role ensures proper disposal, recycling, and compliance with maritime and port environmental guidelines to maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible port facility.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Collection and Handling

• Assist in the collection and transport of waste from designated port zones.
• Load and unload waste materials safely into appropriate containers or transport vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of waste collection points and storage areas.

2. Waste Segregation and Sorting

• Ensure timely and efficient waste collection from designated port facilities and vessels.
• Sort and separate waste materials (biodegradable, recyclable, hazardous, and non-recyclable) collected from ships, cargo areas, terminals, offices, and port facilities.
• Properly identify non-hazardous/hazardous and special waste materials according to safety protocols.
• Ensure correct labeling and placement of segregated waste in designated containers.

3. Compliance and Environmental Standards

• Follow local, national, and international maritime waste regulations.
• Adhere to environmental protection policies and port authority regulations.
• Report improper waste disposal or environmental hazards to supervisors.

4. Safety and Equipment Use

• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times (gloves, masks, safety boots, reflective vest, etc.)
• Ensure availability of necessary tools and supplies.
• Operate basic waste handling tools and equipment safely.
• Immediately report accidents, spills or unsafe working conditions.

5. Housekeeping and Maintenance

• Keep the waste segregation area clean and organized.
• Assist in routine cleaning and disinfection of waste handling areas.

6. Other related task that may be assign from time to time.
