Job Description

Join our Technology R&D Lab as a Test Engineer building the next generation of API-first, composable banking solutions. You will create andmaintainautomated testing for our IBOR (Investment Book of Record) platform a multi-tenant SaaS system serving financial institutions globally.

Working closely with our backend engineering team,you'lldesign testing strategies for our serverless, event-driven architecture running on AWS, ensuring quality, compliance, and resilience as we rapidly deploy new features.

Your key tasks

• Design and evolve automatedAPI, integration, and system testing strategiesfor an API-first, event-driven, multi-tenant SaaS platform built with Node.js and TypeScript
• Build andmaintaintest harnesses and reusable test frameworksforplain andREST APIs and asynchronous workflows on AWS
• Developintegration and end-to-end testsfor event-driven architectures,validatingcorrectness under retries, concurrency, partial failures, and out-of-order message delivery
• Define and implementtest data strategies, including generation and maintenance ofrepresentative, deterministic, and isolated datasetsfor functional, performance, and regression testing of financial systems
• Design performance, scalability, and resilience test scenarios, andanalyze latency, throughput, and error-rate metricsover time
• Create andmaintaintests that detectcost regressionsin serverless and event-driven workloads (e.g., execution time, message fan-out,storageand access patterns)
• Integrate automated tests intoGitHub Actionsbased CI/CD pipelines, defining quality gates and promotion criteria that balance confidence with fast feedback
• Partner closely with backend engineers to definetestable service contracts, API specifications,and build the test tooling for them (OpenAPI, Pact, schema validation)
• Monitor and improvetest signal quality, including managing flaky tests,maintainingfast feedback loops, and preventing regressions
• Build andmaintaincapability to generate representative financialtestdata
• For more senior candidates: contribute to cross-service test strategy, mentor other test engineers, and help shape overall quality engineering practices

Qualifications

• Minimum3yearsof experience testing APIs and backend services indistributed systems
• Strong experience writing automated tests inTypeScript or JavaScript, using frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, Chai, orSupertest
• Proven experience testingplain APIsandasynchronous / event-driven systems
• Hands-on experience testing systems built onAWS servicessuch as Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, and S3
• Experience with API testing approaches and tools (e.g., Postman/Newman or equivalent Node.js-based solutions)
• Understanding ofCI/CD pipelinesand integrating automated tests to provide fast, reliable feedback (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work closely with engineers in an R&D environment

Highly valued:

• Experience testingserverless applicationsand understanding Lambda execution, scaling, and failure models
• Experience designing and managingrepresentative test data, beyond simple mocking (e.g., realistic fixtures, data builders, deterministic generators)
• Knowledge offinancial services systems, such as IBOR, portfolio accounting, or performance calculations
• Experience withperformance and load testingfor APIs or serverless systems (e.g., k6, Artillery, or similar)
• Experience testing orvalidatinginfrastructure and deployments(e.g.,OpenTofu, Terraform, AWS CDK)
• Familiarity withlocal or isolated AWS testing strategies(e.g.,LocalStackor equivalent approaches)
• Experience withcontract testingor API schema validation (OpenAPI, Pact, etc.)
• Understanding ofmulti-tenant SaaS testing strategies, including tenant isolation and data safety
• Experience managing flaky tests and improvingCI signal-to-noise ratio
• Comfort using modern developer tooling (e.g., GitHub Copilot or similar) to accelerate test development
• Awareness ofcompliance and regulatory considerationsfor financial systems (e.g., SOC2, GDPR)
