Position Overview:
The Area Risk Officer will lead risk management activities for lending operations within a designated region in the Philippines. This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating credit, operational, and compliance risks across branch or regional lending channels. The Area Risk Officer partners closely with operations, underwriting, collections, and compliance teams to ensure consistent risk frameworks, strong controls, and regulatory adherence while supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regional Risk Oversight
Implement and maintain risk frameworks, policies, and procedures for lending activities in the assigned area.
Monitor regional portfolio performance, identify emerging risk trends, and produce timely risk reports for senior management.
Conduct periodic risk assessments and stress testing to evaluate portfolio vulnerability under varying scenarios.
2. Credit Risk Management
Review credit underwriting practices and decisioning processes to ensure consistent application of credit policies.
Advise on risk-adjusted pricing, credit limits, and approval authority for local lending products.
Support case reviews of high-risk accounts, exceptions, and portfolio remediation plans.
3. Operational Risk and Controls
Assess operational processes across onboarding, disbursement, servicing, and collections to identify control gaps.
Design, implement, and monitor corrective actions to strengthen internal controls and reduce loss events.
Coordinate incident investigations and root-cause analysis for fraud, process failures, or regulatory breaches.
4. Compliance and Regulatory Alignment
Ensure local lending operations comply with applicable Philippine laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance.
Work with compliance and legal teams to implement regulatory changes and support audits and examinations.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration and Training
Partner with branch managers, sales, underwriting, and collections to embed risk-aware decision making into day-to-day operations.
Deliver region-specific risk training and guidance to frontline staff and management.
6. Reporting and Analytics
Prepare regular dashboards and narrative reports on key risk indicators (KPIs, delinquencies, NPLs, charge-offs) for regional leadership.
Leverage data to drive insights, recommend remediation actions, and track effectiveness of interventions.
7. Continuous Improvement
Recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices to enhance efficiency and control effectiveness.
Participate in cross-functional projects to support product launches, policy updates, and system implementations from a risk perspective.
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree
25 years old or above, rigorous and careful, with strong sense of responsibility and risk sensitivity.
More than 1 year of local collection or risk control experience in the Philippines, priority given to those familiar with relevant businesses.
Basic risk identification and data statistics capabilities, proficient in using office software.
Proficient in local Philippine languages, basic English communication skills, and familiar with local custom
