We are looking for a detail-oriented, passionate, and skilled Guitar & Electronics Technician to join our growing team at Montances Guitar Wiring. In this role, you will serve as a technician responsible for precision setups, complex custom wiring, bespoke modifications, and routine maintenance for high-end instruments.

You will work closely with our engineering, production, and leadership teams to uphold our commitment to world-class tone-shaping and craftsmanship. This is a hands-on workshop role that requires exceptional manual dexterity, deep technical knowledge of guitar electronics, and a relentless eye for quality.

Key Responsibilities

Electronics & Custom Wiring

• Perform standard and complex wiring modifications, including active/passive pickup installations, custom switching systems, coil-splitting, pre-amp integrations, and shielding.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic issues in electric guitars, basses, and acoustic pickups with zero tolerance for loose solder joints or ground hums.
• Build and wire custom harnesses to exact specifications, ensuring clean cable management and professional layout aesthetics.

Precision Setups & Luthier Services

• Execute professional guitar setups (action adjustment, intonation, neck relief, radius matching, and tremolo calibration) tailored to individual artist preferences and playing styles.
• Perform custom nut shaping, slotting, and replacement (bone, tusq, etc.) as well as basic saddle adjustments.
• Assist with fretwork (leveling, crowning, polishing) and support advanced luthier projects as production scales.

Quality Control & Workflow Efficiency

• Inspect all incoming and outgoing instruments to ensure they meet our strict quality and performance standards before delivery.
• Maintain bench utilization targets and minimize rework rates through rigorous pre-delivery testing and systematic workflow management.
• Keep the workshop organized, maintain tool calibration, and manage component inventory (pots, switches, wire, capacitors, and hardware).

Collaboration & R&D Support

• Collaborate with the lead engineer and product team during the prototyping and testing phases of new custom audio products and wiring components.
• Provide technical insights and customer-facing support during live product launches, artist consultations, or community events.

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Experience: Proven professional experience (minimum 2–3 years preferred) as a guitar technician, bench luthier, or electronics repair specialist in a custom shop or music retail environment.
2. Technical Proficiency:

• Advanced soldering skills and deep familiarity with guitar circuits
• Strong working knowledge of guitar wiring

1. Craftsmanship: Meticulous attention to detail with an unwavering standard of neatness and precision, particularly visible in hidden areas like control cavities.
2. Passion for Music: A genuine appreciation for musical instruments, tone, and the musician community. (Experience playing bass or guitar is a strong plus!)
3. Soft Skills: Good communication skills, reliability, and the ability to balance speed with uncompromising quality in a fast-paced workshop environment.
